Here Are Some Updates......

We have had a few things happen since the last blog entry. We found out we are having another boy! His name is Asher (is Hebrew and means happy) Scott (after my dad). We are very excited. We also were able to purchase a town home and moved on August 23rd. Can you believe we are in a 4 bedroom, 2 and a half bath home? After all those years of small two bedrooms, we feel as if we are in a mansion. We are so blessed to be here, and I wake up every morning amazed at what God has given us. The unit that we were able to buy was owned by the county. We received a letter in the mail (as we have before, and we have been on every low-income housing list for the past seven years) letting us know that the county was going to be selling this unit, and they were going to have a drawing for a buyer, and if we were interested, we needed to fill out the form and send it back. So I did, not thinking anything of it. But in late July we got a call that we were picked first! The lady told me that we needed to be pre-qualified with a bank, and then we could go from there. However we were not able to get qualified since our income was too low. But my dad (THANK YOU DAD!!!!!) was able to help us out and so we did get qualified, and we moved into our new home on August 23rd. Since then we have been trying to get settled, but we also started school (home schooling). So right now the house is pretty much on hold so we can focus on school. Aaliyah is in second grade this year and Isaiah started Kindergarten. They both go to a one day a week class together where they are learning French, and studying Ancient Greece for History. Isaiah joined a Tae Kwon Do class, and Allen takes him on Saturdays. Aaliyah is riding horses again this year, but at a different place. She goes once a week for four hours. They do trail riding, horse theory, grooming, vaulting, etc. Her favorite is vaulting (which they use a huge horse almost the size of a Belgian). But last week she was in a freak horse riding accident. Her and another girl and the teacher, were on a trail ride, when a Coast Guard helicopter came out from nowhere and freaked out the horses. Both horses took off in a full flight, and both girls could not hold on and fell off. I got a call from the barn and rushed over. Aaliyah look awful! Her eye was all swollen, her hand in an ice pack, blood down the front of her shirt and pants. She was crying and crying. It was so sad to see. I'm pretty sure she had a mild concussion. She doesn't remember getting back to the barn, and she kept getting nauseous. Her helmet was damaged too, and she won't be wearing that one again. She had bruises all over her body, one really big one over one of her kidneys (the dr. did a urine sample to make sure there was no blood). The other girl broke her wrist and had to have surgery. This all happened on the 17th of this month, and Aaliyah went back to riding the next week! She didn't want to go on a trail ride, but she did do the vaulting. Praise God for his protection. Here are a few pictures:

This is of her that night:

These are of her two days later:

Oh my goodness, she did look awful. I'm glad she got back on the horse though, and you too in a way, to let her do it.

I want to see pictures of the house too!

Amy, I've missed you. Check on your blog all the time :) I'm so glad Aaliyah survived that -- what a scare! And congrats on Asher, I'll be praying. We're in a similar situation with the house -- hoping to be all done by Christmas. Love to you all. Jamey
