This past Sunday we returned from Idaho. We went to visit our dear friends, Lis and Providence Spence. In December the Spences moved to Idaho to buy a house in Nampa (near Boise), and a week later we moved into their old house here in Scotts Valley. It was hard to watch them go, so it was a blessing to be able to go visit them in their new home. The kids and I drove up with Lis, Providence, and Lis' dad, on Saturday the 5th, and Allen flew into Boise the following Wednesday. It's about a 12 hour drive, and the kids did pretty well (thank God for portable DVD players:)
One morning we woke up to the ground covered in snow. It was beautiful, and the kids enjoyed it for about 15 minutes and then decided it was too cold. By the end of our stay the weather was sunny and warm.
One of the kids favorite things to do was play in the big boxes that Lis had. There were about 3 or 4 of them that covered the family room floor, and many hours were spent in them.
Lis' brother, Aaron, and his wife Kelsey live about 25 minutes from Lis, so we went to visit there to see their "farm". They have chickens, goats, ducks, 2 cows, and the most fun: the ATVs!
Aaron took us to the shooting range. What a blast!!!! Allen shot for the first time (see how proud he is in the picture?) The kids even had a turn, of course after they learned the "gun rule". If you see a gun, "STOP, DON'T TOUCH, LEAVE THE AREA, TELL AN ADULT".
We went to the Boise Zoo one afternoon (a saw a bit of Boise as we were trying to find it. What a beautiful city. I was very suprised at how pretty and clean it was. I am not a city person, but I wouldn't mind spending a day there. The zoo was very nice and affordable (every Thursday, adults are $3 and kids 4 and up are only $1.75, why can't places like that be affordable in California?) All the animals were in very close view. Our favorite was the tigers.
Here are a few more pictures from our stay:
Our dear Lis and Providence, thank you so much for your hospitality, and most of all your friendship. We had the most wonderful time, and we are looking forward to when we can come again. We love you!!!!!!!!
